The Picture of Dorian Gray

Having won two free tickets to see Matthew Bourne’s Dorian Gray at the Hippdorome on Tuesday (thank you Mr Adrian Goldberg and The Stirrer) and having watched the recent Colin Firth and Ben Barne’s 2009 film, I decided it was only fair to read the original Oscar Wilde piece. So having sourced a Wordsworth Classic version (you know the blue ones that you can pick up for like £2 a copy) in Waterstone’s (and the Work’s actually – I picked up the two Alice in Wonderland Stories from here to read before the story gets forever twisted by Tim Burton in 2010) … I am about to embark on my first classics journey since leaving college.

I shall leave you with this preface quote which I find quite marvellous: “Those who find beautiful meanings in beautiful things are the cultivated. For these there is hope.”

I shall now get back to reading my book!

Declaring my love for Tuesdays…

Tuesday means Grazia is waiting for me (summer read it in the garden / conservatory, winter read it on the sofa wrapped up!) and currently it also means Ugly Betty! I *heart* Ugly Betty and, as a result, I also *heart* Tuesday nights! However… for the record… Mondays are for Flash Forward, Wednesdays are for True Blood (I’m on book 6 of Sookie Stackhouse’s adventures too!) and I think Thursdays will now be reserved for the new series of Scrubs. FYI E4 has a double bill of Scrubs starting 9pm this week. Fridays are not made for television, everyone knows that…

Hello

I have decided to start this blog to share all the wonderful and weird (yes wonderful first) things that I come across in Birmingham and beyond… photos, websites, other blogs, books, shops, articles. I hope you like it. I hope I do too. I hope it won’t swallow too much of my precious time (we all know that I hibernate in winter so a perfect time to start I hear you say!) and I hope I don’t offend anybody apart from those I might intentionally try to offend!!!

Today has been a lazy and blustery sunday. I woke relatively hangover free(yay!). I have watched Nick and Norah’s infite playlist (enjoyed 7/10!), finished reading Twilight (love it!) so I can start on New Moon again before the film comes out on the 20th November, purchased the rest of the Temper Trap album after buying tickets for them in May (I hate the fact i know what i am doing on the 4th May 2010- its a Tuesday btw) and of course I had Sunday Dinner (yum!) before deciding to tell the world all of this! Next? I plan to set you all a challenge…
